Envisioning the Next 250 Years: A Creative Project for Students
As we celebrate 250 years of the United States, we invite students to imagine the next 250 years. What kind of nation will we become? How will our communities grow, our technology evolve, and our values change? What will it mean to be “American” in the centuries to come? Students are encouraged to explore these questions through any creative or academic lens, using imagination, research, and vision to picture the America of the future.
Guide your class in discussing what the United States might look like 250 years from now. Encourage students to express their collective ideas through a creative project or presentation, whether written, visual, digital, or interdisciplinary.
Submit your class project or individual student works by October 1st, 2026. Selected works will be featured during a special America 250 Community Event in Winter 2026, where students’ visions of the future will be shared with the public.

To celebrate America’s 250th anniversary, we’re launching a special project to engage Trumbull County’s young minds. We challenge students to imagine what the United States might look like in the year 2276.
Through artwork, creative writing, film, music, or any academic lens, students are asked to explore the future of our communities, technology, and values. Teachers are encouraged to guide their classes in creating a collaborative or individual project that expresses their unique vision.
Selected submissions will be showcased at a special America 250 community event in Fall 2026. Help us explore the next chapter of the American story, through the eyes of our future.
This is Trumbull: A Local History Adventure
This program, in partnership with the Trumbull Tourism Bureau and local historical societies, is a history-focused travel challenge that encourages families to explore all 25 townships in Trumbull County. From January to December 2026, children and their families can visit historic sites at their own pace. The entire experience is designed to be an accessible, asynchronous learning adventure with no admissions costs or specific open hours to worry about. Everyone who completes the challenge is entered into a raffle.
